Our Story

Maya Mindful Living was created from a simple belief:

Modern life does not always need more technology. Sometimes, we need more touch.

We are drawn to simple tools, natural materials and everyday rituals that ask very little of us — no apps, no charging, no screens.

Just a few quiet minutes to slow down, reconnect and return to the body.

ANCIENT TOOLS. MODERN LIFE.

Many of the forms we are inspired by have existed in Chinese culture for generations.

Combs, massage tools and tactile rituals were once simply part of everyday life — objects made to be held, used and lived with.

Maya Mindful Living brings that spirit into a modern context.

Not as something complicated or ceremonial, but as small, practical rituals that can fit naturally into daily life.

Less technology. More touch.

ABOUT MAYA

Maya Qu is the founder of Maya Mindful Living.

Born in China and now based in New Zealand, Maya has always been drawn to the quiet beauty of Chinese culture — its objects, rituals, calligraphy, materials and ways of bringing intention into everyday life.

Maya Mindful Living grew from a desire to share that perspective in a way that feels relevant today.

Rather than adding more devices, more screens or more noise, Maya wanted to return to something simpler:

Natural materials.
Thoughtful objects.
The intelligence of the hand.
The comfort of ritual.

For Maya, wellness does not need to feel complicated.

Sometimes it can be as simple as a wooden tool, a familiar movement and a few quiet minutes at the end of the day.

CHOSEN WITH INTENTION

Every tool in Maya Mindful Living is selected for the way it feels, functions and fits into daily life.

We look for natural materials, tactile surfaces, thoughtful forms and objects that feel good to keep close.

Wood grain, horn colour and natural markings will vary from piece to piece.

These differences are not imperfections.

They are part of the character of natural materials.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF SELF-CARE

We believe self-care can be quieter.

It can happen without a notification.

Without a battery.

Without another thing to charge.

Just touch, movement and a little time.

No batteries. No charging. No screens. Just touch.

A quieter way of living.
